Alexander James Rodriguez covers “Freedom” by Wham! (Watch) – Celebrity Secrets

Brit-Pop Recording Artist Alexandre james rodriguez recently paid homage to its English roots giving it a new twist Pan!is “Freedom”.

The 14-year-old starlet, who has been compared to George michael in the past, bring this classic song back to life with its modern take on the hit record.

Of the reasoning behind the cover of “Freedom,” Rodriguez told Celeb Secrets, “The decision to recreate ‘Freedom‘was actually focused on the media. I was starting to get quoted in the media, especially back home in England, as the next George Michael, so we were like, wow, big boots to fill in, let’s take a look. We listened to every Wham! (the 1984 album “Make it Big” is a classic!) and the song choice was between “I’m Your Man” or “Freedom”. We separated the lyrics from the two and realized that “Freedom” matched our current times in today’s world and my poptastic audience. “

With his mother backing vocals and a fairly smooth recording process, Rodriguez also released a music video for the cover, which was shot at Selfie WRLD Los Angeles in Glendale, California.

“I think my favorite part [of filming the video] was exploring all of the wonderful Selfie WRLD Los Angeles facilities at Glendale and figuring out what room could match the song ‘Freedom’, ”he shares.

“Jail was an obvious choice to follow the words of verse 2, but the yellow phone booth area was fun because I didn’t know a phone handset, and at one point I grabbed a yellow phone handset that was hanging down and I started singing over it. My mom said, “It looks awesome, but you hold it upside down!” We’ve saved this clip to see if anyone notices my Gen Z mistake.

We caught up with Alexander James Rodriguez to find out all about what inspired him to choose the song, the recording process and what has to come!

CS: What inspired you to cover “Freedom” by Wham !?

AJR: “With the exception of my UNICEF charity song, LA vacations I really tend to release my own original music, but we were looking for a song to get out of the back of Bella loquita my Spanish-English hybrid song, before two very different original pop songs that will be released later this year. It was like serving lemon sorbet after a spicy salsa to cleanse the palate. We needed an interlude song.

CS: How did the registration process go?

AJR: “After recreating the baseline of the song, with just a basic rhythm guitar and a drum beat, I recorded my lead vocals. The song itself was pretty bare. We finished the main vocals and my backing vocals, then my mom sang all the female backing vocals you can hear. Every high note and harmony is my mother. The voice session lasted less than an hour.

The next big step was the opening brass you hear on the song. My mother called her longtime friend London film and television composer Ram Khat, who works with full orchestras, and asked if he could record the brass section live. Meanwhile in Burbank, Gemini Muziq, our music producer, was recording her version of the piano live. We were still missing something about the song, we needed live guitars. Gemini asked Russel Ali a favor, and he agreed to record the guitars in the studio for the song. We had all of our instruments live including a tambourine and a rogue handshake! It was truly a collaborative effort. So many amazing people worked on the song, for just one cover interlude, everyone went above and beyond. “

CS: What was your favorite part of the shoot the clip?

AJR: “I think my favorite part was exploring all of the wonderful Selfie WRLD Los Angeles installations at Glendale (big thanks to Ashley and Joleen), and seeing which room might fit the song ‘Freedom’. Prison was an obvious choice to follow the words of verse 2, but the yellow phone booth area was fun because I don’t know a phone handset, and at one point I grabbed a yellow phone handset hanging down and I started to sing on it. CS: We just saw on your Instagram that you will be in a new movie called Replica. Congratulations! What can you tell us about this?

AJR: ” Yes thank you. I’m super excited to be in writer-director Paul Tully’s new movie ‘Replica’. The film stars Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke, Alexandra Gray, Jeremy Luke and Jaime Zevallos. It’s an action drama but there are also moments of comedy. Basically, the film follows Mickey, a character full of loyalty, love, confidence, and selflessness, but who constantly struggles with addiction, self-doubt, trauma, and a heart-wrenching desire for redemption. It is quite complicated. It takes place in Los Angeles. I play the role of Young Mickey. I started filming on September 5th!
