Swedish modern metallurgists AMARANTH have parted ways with the longtime singer Henrik “GG6” Englund Wilhelmson.

Henrik announced his release from AMARANTH in a social media post earlier today (Wednesday, June 8). He wrote: “I’m sorry to say that I have sad news for you all! I will no longer be a part of AMARANTH.

“After 2 years at home due to corona, something hit me. I loved being at home with my family and I started dreaming of doing something else. Something more important and also NOT spending more time away from my kids For many reasons I also slowly stopped enjoying life on the road with AMARANTH. It became more of a job and something that I pushed myself to do. Not like when I had serious fun all the time!

“I want to thank all my fans for your support over the years and I promise I will be back with killer ‘GG6‘stuff in the future when the mood and creativity will return to me!

“Cheers n love and good luck to AMARANTH in the future.”

The remaining members of AMARANTH said: “We fully respect and understand Henrikand we wish him good luck in his future adventures. Henrik is truly one of the greatest growlers in the world, as anyone who’s seen him rip our songs live knows, and we can’t wait to see what he has to offer next! Keep your eyes peeled on his social media to stay up to date with upcoming GG6 Madness!”

AMARANTH added, “This summer’s shows will be performed by two special guests, stay tuned!”

Last December, AMARANTH released a music video for their latest single “PvP” (player speech for “Player Versus Player”). The track, released in November, was the official anthem of the Swedish team at the international esports world championship. The clip was directed by Poland Group13who previously worked with AMARANTH on the “Archangel” and “BOOM! 1” videos.

AMARANTH has spent the last decade establishing itself as a formidable, positive and fervently melodic force for metallic good. From their explosive self-titled debut in 2011 to the more sophisticated and streamlined in 2014 “Massive Addictive” and its impeccable follow-up “Maximalism” (2016),AMARANTH masterfully blurred the lines between melodic metal, crushing brutality, cinematic sweep and futuristic brilliance. Driven by the guitarist’s infinitely ingenious songwriting Olof Morck and powerful singer Elize Rydtheir rise to prominence has been a joy to behold.

Widely acclaimed as a dazzling live, the Swedes reached a new height of creativity on 2018’s massive hit “Helix”: an album that took the band’s vision to new heights, widths and depths, while showcasing the brilliance of Elise and his co-singers, Wilhelmsson and recent recruit Nils Molin.

After 9 years and four albums together, Henrik “GG6” Englund Wilhelmson has now chosen to end his journey with…
