Apple has released a new playlist of Apple Music’s most played songs in 2021, with artists like BTS, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd taking home some of the top spots.
“After a year in which a large chunk of the world’s population was trapped in their homes, 2021 was all about having one foot outside,” the playlist’s description reads.
The list compiles the most streamed songs on Apple Music across the world from October 16, 2020 to October 15, 2021.
The first place goes to sensational global K-Pop group BTS, for their song “Dynamite”. Although Apple is not disclosing the individual parts, BTS ‘music video “Dynamite” has received more than 1.3 billion views on YouTube.
The second most listened to song was Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drive’s License”, with Ariana Grande’s “Positions” taking third place. Drake, Doja Cat and Justin Bieber are also on the list.
Apple also announced its Apple Music Awards for 2021, naming The Weeknd as Best Artist, HER as Songwriter of the Year and Olivia Rodrigo as Groundbreaking Artist of the Year.
Apple Music’s most played song in 2020 was “The Box,” with over 455 million streams worldwide.
Apple’s Top 100 lists include data from 48 countries. All are available to stream in Apple Music now.
