Rolling Stone hails: “The crisp, jagged tunes of their debut album, Deep Down Happy, are reminiscent of Franz Ferdinand or the early Arctic Monkeys; their oddly angled guitars may evoke Pavement or Silkworm; their clever critiques of British life are reminiscent of Pulp and the Kinks; and vocalist Alex Rice’s vociferous style has undertones of Art Brut’s Eddie Argos and Autumn’s Mark E. Smith. It’s all evoked with a sense of humor brimming with good humor, so that they look like they’re having fun even when they’re pissed off.The album bounces around with the logic of a free-for-all pub debate.
