Today, groundbreaking British band Sports Team debut their new song, ‘The Game’, which originally premiered on BBC Radio 6. Alongside this, the band present an accompanying video, featuring the punk legend 70s cult John Otway as frontman Alex Rice. series of surreal ordeals.
About the song, the band explains, “It’s a mantra for a nation of owners… Something to mumble behind electric doors as the world burns around you. It’s that island mentality, where someone one has allowed himself to believe that the news is what happens to others.”
The new track will appear on the band’s highly anticipated new album, Gulp!, due out August 12 via Island UK/Bright Antenna. “The Game” follows the release of “R Entertainment”, the debut single from Gulp!, which was released as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record in the World last month.
After a sold-out UK tour with the Wombats, Sports Team confirm a series of European dates and festival appearances throughout the summer. More US tour dates will be announced soon, while the full tour itinerary can be found below.
Sports Team consists of Alex Rice (vocals), Rob Knaggs (rhythm guitar, vocals), Henry Young (lead guitar), Oli Dewdney (bass), Al Greenwood (drums) and Ben Mack (keyboards, percussion).
