Dawson can trace music deep to his Indian roots, and it was the piano that brought his mother and father together.

“The dream is that it’s not a dream,” she explained, “and that it’s my reality.”

Next, the dream race. Dawson rearranged the song as a folk number, accompanied by acoustic guitar arpeggios.

“Too bad your mom and dad weren’t there,” Heidi Klum joked.

“You have star quality,” added Howie Mandel.

“There’s something about you. I wouldn’t mind listening to your voice all day,” Sofia Vergara said. “It’s amazing, I love it.”

Simon Cowell was impressed with the courage to take one of the most popular pop songs of all time and literally make it “his own version”. He continued, “I’m going to remember that audition.”

The votes have been cast, all “yes”.

The folks at Dawson remembered what they missed in the most Hollywood way possible – an impulsive Facetime call with Mandel. Turns out they had a good reason to miss the show. Debbii told them not to come.

If this rule sticks as she progresses in AGTwe will have to wait and see.
