Ancient Motley Crue singer John Corabi recalls his near altercation with Hanoi Rocks guitarist Andy McCoy and said he had a memory that McCoy attacked him with his cane.
John Corabi was a member of Motley Crue between 1992 and 1996. Joining the band after the band’s original vocalist Vince Neil parted ways with Flood, Corabi only recorded one studio album with the band, which was the band’s self-titled Motley Crue album. In addition to recording the sixth album, Corabi was the author of some songs taken from the group Generation Pig. He also performed on the band’s extended play, Quaternary.
However, while Corabi was not a member of Motley Crue, one of rock music’s most painful moments has happened. After Sami Yaffa, Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley, Tom Leeand Andy McCoy party at vinceis home for Hanoi Rocksthe very first American tour of 1984 Razzle and Neil left the house towards the late hours of the night to go to a local liquor store. In the end, drunk Vince Neil crashes, and Razzle is dead. Since, Andy McCoy had unlimited hatred against Mötley Crüe.
Recently, John Corabi mentioned his argument with Andy McCoy. Earlier in the interview, he described his first encounter with Andy, taking people back a few years before his near run-in with Andy. Later he remembered the time when he thought McCoy was going to beat him to death because he was angry after the death of his teammate.
“I went back to a Swedish rock festival, and I didn’t realize it but a really good friend of mine, Conny Bloom, who plays guitar with the Electric Boys, he used to play with Hanoi Rocks,” said continued Corabi. “So I was sort of passing by, and Conny called me, so I went and sat down at the table they were sitting at.
“And Andy was just staring at me. I had a red scarf on — I just kind of had it tied around the top of my head — and he took offense to me wearing the scarf, because it was, like, ‘That’s my thing .’ So someone said, ‘Oh, Andy, it’s John. He sang with Mötley Crüe.’
“And I thought Andy was seriously going to beat me to death. He had his cane and he came at me with his fucking cane and he literally wanted to hit me with the cane. So I grabbed the cane, then her [then-wife] Angela and Conny came.
Corabi says Andy thought ‘Mötley Crüe is a bunch of bastards’
In the following, Corabi revealed how upset he was. Explain why McCoy act like that, Corabi said then that Andy thought he was Vince Neil. Elsewhere, the singer admitted that McCoy had very negative thoughts about Motley Crue.
“Honestly, I was a little pissed off,” he continued. “I’m, like, ‘What’s your problem, man? I have met you before. And I’m hanging on to the cane and I’m like, ‘He has no fucking idea. He went out to lunch.
“And I’m sitting there, like, ‘Okay.’ So I kind of let go of the cane. Conny came over, Angela came over, and they were like, ‘Man, that’s not Vince. That’s Jean. Different singer.’ And he kinda calmed down. But I was like, ‘Man, seriously, I’m going to beat you to death with your own cane. Stop that shit.’
“His fucking beef, and I can’t say I blame him, was the fact that Mötley had just released ‘Music To Crash Your Car To’, and he didn’t have it. And he sat down there in his very hard to understand English, he sat there and he was like, ‘I think that’s fucking bullshit. Nikki Sixx and those guys are nothing but a bunch of scumbags. And he kept saying how nasty he thought it was. Not only did they call it “Music To Crash Your Car To”, but there was a volume one, and then they turned around and made a volume two.
It was not the first time McCoy blasted Mötley Crüe. Last July, McCoy talked about the Mötley Crüe Homecoming and the group’s biopic Dirtinesssaying he totally lies and does not reveal the truth about the deceased Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley. He also claimed that Nikki Sixx told lies about being beaten by a drug dealer after overdosing in London.
“The party in this movie [is] in a mansion,” he says. “Do you know what really happened? We were in a two bedroom apartment. There were five people there.
“When I saw this movie, or parts of it, I was like, ‘I don’t want to see the whole movie. This is bullshit again. Hollywood bullshit’…The movie isn’t All pure lies and bullshit again. And I can’t get into that kind of shit. I want the reality out.
“He’s lying,” he said of Nikki Sixx. “I played baseball when I was a kid. If I hit someone with a baseball bat who’s unconscious, do you think they’d live? Surely not. Shit no, bro. He was not beaten. He was slapped to wake him up because he overdosed.
With reference to Motley Crue meeting, McCoy mocked the group. He also repeated that Nikki Sixx lies.
“Their 25th farewell tour or something”, McCoy Laughs. “Fucking scams. I tell the truth, mate. I don’t lie, like Nikki Sixx, through my fucking teeth.
