Brazilian death metal supergroup The Troops of Destinyfeaturing the former burial guitarist Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz alongside bassist/vocalist Alex Kafer (Enter, Explicit hateex-Necromancer), drummer Alexandre Oliveira (Southern blacklist, raise condemnation), and guitarist Marcelo Vasco (Country, Mysterisand acclaimed graphic designer for the likes of Killer, Creator, machine head, soulflyand hate race), recently released their first full album, “Antichrist Reborn.” The band’s debut album was released on April 15, 2022 via Alma Mater Records – managed by moon spellby Fernando Ribeiro – and released digitally by Blood Blast Distribution.
After their critically acclaimed EPs “The Rise Of Heresy” (2020) and “The Absence of Light” (2021), which received acclaim from both the international music press and fans, on “Antichrist Reborn”, the band revisits the essence of 80s-style death metal, exploring a more primitive sound that takes its listeners back to that era, while remaining fresh, authentic and fiercely heavy.
In a recent statement, moon spell Alma Mater Records frontman and owner Fernando Ribeiro said of the band, “I’ve been a fan of Brazilian extreme music, namely death metal, since the late eighties. It shaped me as a musician and as a metalhead as much or maybe even more than the classic extreme metal bands of Europe and the United States. “Antichrist Reborn” holds the key to unlocking the doors and unleashing these demons upon us in 2022! It’s just the shining missing link between this past and the glorious Troops of Doom future. My head is in the clouds and I’m totally excited to have this top band on my label. You won’t believe how hellish this record is; The Troops of Destiny will win the title of best death metal album of the year!
“Antichrist Reborn” was mixed by Swedish producer Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studio and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren at Blacklounge Studio, Sweden. With very special guest musicians such as João Gordo (Ratos de Porão) and Alex Camargo & Moyses Kolesne (Krisiun), The Troops of Destiny unleash true oldschool death metal in its purest form: dirty, primitive and brutally powerful as it should be. The cover was painted by Sergio “AlJarrinha” Oliveira, the artist behind burialOriginal “Bestial Devastation” artwork.
