The post Meshuggah Reschedule 2022 US Tour Due to Health Issue Within Band appeared first on Consequence.
Swedish extreme metal veterans Meshuggah have postponed their US tour from early winter 2022 to fall due to a health issue affecting one of the band members. As a result of the new route, the live support act Converge will no longer be shown, but the Torche openers will remain on board.
The U.S. release of Meshuggah was scheduled to debut on February 23 and run through March 20. Instead, it will launch on September 16 in Worcester, Massachusetts, and conclude on October 16 in Atlanta, Georgia. Current ticket holders will be admitted to the rescheduled concerts, while others will be able to purchase tickets through Ticketmaster.
In a Facebook post announcing the postponement, Meshuggah explained that one of their members was “undergoing medical treatment related to a skin condition on his hands.” The full statement reads as follows:
“We regret to inform that Meshuggah will have to postpone their US tour, originally scheduled for early 2022, to September/October 2022. While the ongoing pandemic has thrown us various curveballs throughout the past year, ultimately delaying the completion of Meshuggah’s next studio album – there are other concerns that forced us to make this unfortunate decision. The determining factor is the need to prioritize the physical health of one of the band members who is currently undergoing medical treatment related to a skin condition on his hands, preventing him from rehearsing and playing his instrument. Although we are optimistic about his future recovery, we know that it will not be possible for him and the band to be ready to perform already in February 2022. With these shows in progress, Converge will unfortunately no longer be able to perform. tour. However, we are grateful that Torche continues to play with us. Another special guest to replace Converge and complete the line-up is to be announced. Tickets will remain valid from the original dates, please contact your ticket provider with any questions.
Converge, whose recent release Blood Moon I featuring Chelsea Wolfe made our list of the 30 best metal and hard rock albums of 2021, released their own statement, letting fans know that they’re “working on something in lieu of this tour which we’ll be announcing soon.”
