Meshuggah postpones US tour to 2022 due to group health issue

Swedish extreme metal veterans Meshuggah have postponed their US tour from early winter 2022 to fall due to a health issue affecting one of the band members. As a result of the new route, the Converge Direct Support Act will no longer be showing, but the Torch Openers will remain on board.

The US release of Meshuggah was scheduled to begin on February 23 and end on March 20. Instead, it will launch on September 16 in Worcester, Massachusetts, and end on October 16 in Atlanta, Georgia. Current ticket holders will be admitted to rescheduled concerts, while others can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster.

In a Facebook post announcing the postponement, Meshuggah explained that one of their members “was undergoing medical treatment related to a skin condition on the hands.” The full statement reads as follows:

“We regret to inform that Meshuggah will have to postpone his American tour, initially scheduled for the beginning of 2022, to September / October 2022. While the ongoing pandemic has thrown us various curveballs throughout the last year, delaying ultimately the completion of Meshuggah’s upcoming studio album – there are other concerns that forced us to make this unfortunate decision. The determining factor is the need to prioritize the physical health of one of the band members who are currently undergoing medical treatment related to a skin condition on their hands, preventing them from rehearsing and playing their instrument. While we are optimistic for his future recovery, we know that it will not be possible for him and the band to be ready to perform already in February 2022. With these shows now in motion, Converge will unfortunately no longer be able to perform. tour. However, we are grateful that Torche continues to play with us. Another special guest to replace Converge and complete Bill is to be announced. Tickets will remain valid from the original dates, please contact your ticket supplier with any questions.

Converge, whose recent release Blood Moon I starring Chelsea Wolfe made our list of the top 30 metal and hard rock albums of 2021, released their own statement, informing fans that they are “working on something for this tour that we will be announcing soon.”
