ABBA is back with two new songs, a new album (‘Voyage’) and a digital concert announcement

For the first time in 40 years, Swedish pop legends ABBA have officially reunited – and will release a new album, Trip, November 5.

Detailed Thursday, the news arrived with great impatience, as rumors had circulated for years about a new activity of the legendary group (Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Björn Ulvaeus). Along with the news, there was the premiere of “I Still Have Faith In You,” which can be experienced below:

5. Just an idea

6. I can be that woman

8. Bumblebee

9. No doubt about it

Addressing the 40-year gap between official meeting activities (not counting a one-time performance at a private event in 2016), the group said in a statement:

“It’s been a long time since we’ve done music together. Almost 40 years, in fact. We took a break in the spring of 1982 and now we have decided it is time to end it. They say it’s unwise to wait 40+ years between albums, so we recorded a sequel to The Visitors. We just call it Travel and we are truly sailing uncharted waters.

ABBA plans to hold a series of digital concerts from May 2022 in the arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.

The Guardian detailed live events:

Digital versions of themselves (not holograms, their team claimed) will appear every night alongside a group of 10 musicians in a new 3,000-seat venue in the city’s Olympic Park, called the Abba Arena. . Tickets go on general sale Tuesday, September 7.

“We just call it ‘Voyage’ and we are truly sailing in uncharted waters”, Songwriter / keyboardist Benny Anderson said in a press release. “With the help of our young people, we are traveling into the future. It’s not easy to explain, but it hasn’t been done before. When you come into the arena you will find the four of us with an absolutely glorious group of 10 musicians. And while it’s not in the flesh, we’ll be there, thanks to the work of the creative team and ILM.

Produced through Industry Light & Magic by George Lucas, Abba Voyage will take place in the arena of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. General tickets are available September 7th.

“It’s been a while since we’ve done music together,” the band said in a statement. “Almost 40 years, in fact. We took a break in the spring of 1982 and now we have decided it is time to end it. They say it’s unwise to wait 40+ years between albums, so we recorded a sequel to The Visitors. We just call it Travel and we are truly sailing uncharted waters.

“It’s hard to say what has been the happiest thing for me with this project,” Andersson said. “Whether it’s the involvement in creating the concert with everyone or coming back to the studio together after 40 years. I think hearing Frida and Agnetha sing again is hard to beat. Anni-Frid Lyngstad added, “Those first sessions in 2018 were so much fun, and when Benny called and asked if I was considering singing again, I jumped on it!”
