Paradise Lost drummer Waltteri Väyrynen leaves band and touring replacement appointed

After six years with the band, Paradise Lost drummer Waltteri Väyrynen stepped down. Earlier today, Väyrynen released a statement about the decision.

“Dear fans and friends, I am sad to announce that I am stepping down as drummer for Paradise Lost. It has been an incredible journey and I am incredibly proud to have been part of the history of this legendary band, playing hundreds gigs around the world and recording the last two studio albums.

“It must be emphasized that my decision involves absolutely no bad blood or drama and I will forever consider the guys in the band my friends and will miss them all immensely. I would like to express my gratitude to Nick, Greg, Steve, Aaron, management and team for everything and making me feel like home over the last 7 1/2 years Last but not least, thank you to all the fans around the world for your support over the years it means everything to me !

“I wish the band every success in their future endeavours, and I can’t wait to hear what direction they’re heading next. As for me, I guess you’ll hear from me soon so it’s not a goodbye . Congratulations to all !”

Väyrynen has performed with Paradise Lost on the band’s albums Astonished and Obsidian studio efforts, as well as various live recordings. Paradise Lost said the following in a press release regarding the Väyrynen’s departure:

“Our drummer Waltteri has parted ways with Paradise Lost and we wish him all the best for the future. We welcome Guido Montanarini from Strigoi who will take up the drums stool for our upcoming European tour.

Paradise Lost will be on tour across Europe from October 5 to November 13
