In a new interview with Artists registered with ADIKA Live!, SKID RANK bass player Rachel Bolan talked about the Swedish singer Erik Grönwallwho joined the group earlier this year replacing PZ Theart. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “He just blew us away, and he keep on going to amaze us. Not only is he a great singer, but his talents go beyond that. He’s the first singer we’ve ever had that plays guitar, and he plays it well. And he writes — he’s a really good songwriter — which is great. We like that. It’s just more creativity between the five of us.”
Referring to the fact that Erik was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2021, Bolan went on to praise “the singer’s outlook on life, because he now has a different outlook than the rest of us. He probably appreciates it – I wouldn’t even say ‘probably’; he absolutely appreciates her more than us, doesn’t take anything for granted,” he said. “His work ethic is like ours where it’s, like, ‘Well, we’re not going to stop until it’s not well done or the way we think is exactly how we want it.
“As you can see, I’m very excited about this, and we all share the same excitement,” Bolan added. “I’ve heard a lot of people say that line since he joined the band, and it couldn’t make me feel any better. But people say, ‘SKID RANK is back.’ And when I hear that, it’s comforting, one, and two, it’s just such a powerful statement to hear when you’re in the band, because you’re like, ‘Well, we haven’t really gotten anywhere’, but then you realize, ‘Okay, now we’ve hit the jackpot.’ We have a guy who works just as hard as we do, wants it as much as we do, and takes pride in his work just like us. … We dig the work together and we have a lot of laughs, which, as you know, being in a band is so important. And having five like-minded people is Great important, especially at our age. Everyone should have the same goal in mind, whether it’s a huge goal or a smaller goal. And it helps — it really helps — to just move on and move on.”
