Scottish band will bring European folk music to rural Dorset

FIRELIGHT Trio are a new band from Scotland who will bring their colorful array of European folk music – from Balkan music to Scandinavian polkas and irresistible klezmer – to rural Dorset this autumn.

Three Dorset communities will hold special concerts in partnership with rural arts charity Artsreach, including Wootton Fitzpaine, near Lyme Regis.

Scottish ensemble Firelight Trio play evocative, inventive and endlessly exciting European folk music.

With over 25 years of experience as professional musicians in bands such as Moishe’s Bagel, Gavin Marwick’s Journeyman and many more, Firelight Trio’s repertoire is built on a foundation of European folk music, encompassing both traditional material and superb original compositions strongly influenced by the group. members’ individual, diverse and extensive musical experience.

Driving violin and majestic nyckelharpa meet deep accordion grooves in a rich tapestry of lively Swedish polskas and Scottish reels, singsong French waltzes, foot-tapping klezmer, dazzling original melodies and more.
