Willie Nelson covers George Harrison and Kris Kristofferson on new “Family” album

Willie nelson reunites his real family and the Family Band for a new album of Nelson covers and classics. Title The Willie Nelson family, the LP features the country music mainstay’s renditions of “All Things Must Pass” by George Harrison and “Why Me” by Kris Kristofferson, as well as updated versions of “Family Bible” and “Heaven and Hell” .

Due November 19, the album features some of Nelson’s last recordings with drummer Paul English, who is dead in 2020, including “Heaven and Hell,” “Kneel at Jesus’ Feet,” “Laying My Burdens Down,” and “Family Bible,” which is currently streaming.

Alongside the English, harmonica player Mickey Raphael and bassist Kevin Smith, The Willie Nelson family features Nelson’s sister Bobbie Nelson, daughters Paula Nelson and Amy Nelson, and sons Micah and Lukas Nelson. (Lukas sings on “All Things Must Pass” and “Keep It on the Sunnyside.”)

Nelson and his band will headline his annual Farm Aid benefit concert on Saturday in Connecticut.
